His drawn to music started when he was 5 years old, from then he was introduced to music scores, time signature, notes and tempo. Growing up in church gave him the love at first sight for drums.  At the age of 12 he started playing with Ade Manuhutu, an Indonesian gospel artist and got deeply involved in church music until now. From that moment God had open doors of ministry to work with great names in the music industry such as Aminoto Kosin, Sari Simorangkir, Idang Rasjidi, Monita Tahalea, True Worshippers, and many more. Toar is the music director and songwriter for his gospel band, Verse Of The Day, who have travelled and performed in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and in many places throughout Indonesia. His other band is OilWorship, where he is also the music director since 2014 till now, and just recorded their fifth album called OilWorship V Live Recording. He is also the man behind GospelDrumTips, a Twitter and Youtube account for online drum lessons and tips. These days, Toar holds the Head of Educational Division at JBC Art & Music School and performs multiple clinics, gigs and sessions. His latest drum lesson project is titled Building Chops and Gospel Feel - Drum Lesson by Toar Pelenkahu.
